Claim Your Heart's Desire!

Claim Your Heart's Desire!

“Glamour Goal” #2: Live Passionately! We are starting on the second month of our Year of Living Glamorously project and since we have dared ourselves to face one of our biggest fears, and met that challenge, we are now free to move ahead with living our most desired life. So that begs the question: What is your heart’s desire? What are you passionate about? A life lived without passion is only a half lived life. I was fortunate enough to be asked this question by my friend, Carolyn, a while ago, and it sent me on a quest to find the answer. I have been on that journey, enjoying every minute of it along the way, ever since. I believe that it is an important question, and that the answer will lead you to living your most exciting, glamorous, and fulfilling life. It has...

A New Year of Glamour!

A New Year of Glamour!

“Glamour Goal” #1: Live Daringly! Welcome to a new year! I love new beginnings and the opportunities they bring and I am really excited about this year ahead, full of the excitement and new challenges of kicking off the “A Year of Living Glamorously” project. The basic premise is that each month there will be a challenge to try something new, to learn something, to have a new experience. The idea is that if we just have even one new experience a month that adds up to a whole year’s worth of glamorous new experiences. It’s all about living, learning, laughing, growing and sharing. Life is much more glamorous, more exciting and meaningful, when we are stretching our imaginations, reaching beyond our limits, tapping into our creativity, and allowing...

Holiday Glamour

Holiday Glamour

Christmas time is the perfect time for making magical family memories. I have so many fond childhood Christmas memories, and none of them have anything to do with any toy I ever received. They all are about cherished family holiday traditions. Over the years our family has created some of our own treasured holiday traditions, and each year I make a list of the moments I most look forward to, the ones that I absolutely must make the time to enjoy and not let slip away in the rush and frenzy of the season. It probably comes as no surprise to you, that most of them have nothing to do with buying, and everything to do with spending- your time in the company of those you love.So if you are feeling caught up in the Christmas frenzy from running and rushing to complete your shopping lists,...

Everyday Glamour: Surround Yourself with Art!

Whether we may realize it or not, art plays a role in most of our daily lives. There is visual content everywhere around us: hanging in our offices, public art displayed in our parks and around our cities, and surrounding us in our private spaces.

Does Glamour = Beauty/Looks?

When I first learned that the August Issue of Sashay Magazine was going to be all about Body Image, I wasn’t sure exactly what I was going to write about. Then the answer came to me after another conversation that I always seem to have right after I am introduced as a writer and they find out that I write columns and articles about living glamorously and am the creator of a whole lifestyle philosophy brand called “Glamour Survival Guides!”. Invariably, as soon as someone learns this, they will say something along the lines of them not looking very glamorous, or that they are not dressed very glamorously. It is almost always an apology to me, of some sort, and I always have to reassure them that, in fact, my goal is to redefine the idea of what it means to “be...

Everyday Life With Our Pets

Even though my husband and I have two children, we consider ourselves as being, not just a family of four, but as a family of six, which includes our dog and cat. Like a lot of people, we consider our animals as members of our family. They have their own personalities that play into our family dynamic, make demands on our time, and I schedule their vet visits for yearly shots and take them to the doctor when they aren’t feeling well, just as I do for the rest of us. We remember their birthdays, take photos of them looking cute and buy them treats and toys. Santa even comes to visit them and we have been known to dress them up for Halloween! I will say that having pets even adds a touch of glamour to our lives. How, you might ask, does having pets contribute to our “Everyday...

All About You: Overcoming Our Fears

Well, the New Year is underway and if you're like me you are trying to stick to your resolution of getting fit and sticking to an exercise routine. Staying active and fit are an essential part of living your fullest, most glamorous life and, although I love to walk, I have to admit I am a fair weather walker. As we all know, if we don’t enjoy an activity we won’t do it, so I needed to do something besides walking only on mild, sunny days. This past year I started looking around for a dance class that I could take when the weather was too bad to venture outside. Once upon a time, I was actually a ballet and jazz dancer, and I loved it, but that was many moons ago, and I hadn't danced in a long time. I missed it though and had checked out a few dance classes over the years but...
