Shirley Bass, "Hey There! Great to See You!"
A new adventure is just what Bass has been looking for. In a world full of ever-changing trends, technology and tweets, she is delving into the unkown for new ways to push the envelope. She is excited about the future and looks forward to meeting others who are experiencing life and consider themselves rugged, real and refined - 21st century women.
Bass has more than 15 years of experience as a designer and award-winning creative art director. She has created several prototypes, logos and has been the front-runner in the branding of new publications. She has received the George B. Rae Award from Mohawk Valley Community College for top design student and graduated with a B.S. in Graphic Design from The College of Saint Rose in Albany, NY, with high honors. Bass has received several gold, silver and bronze awards from ADDY, MAG and Georgia Press Association as well as a Citation of Excellence.
Monica Dutcher, Keepin' It Real!
In 2007, Monica Dutcher graduated with a B.A. in English from the University of South Carolina-Aiken, where she received the Oswald Freshman Writing Award and the Kaplan Award for Excellence in Expository Writing. While in college, she completed two internships: one at a local newspaper, The Aiken Standard, and another in desktop publishing. As a freshman she was inducted into the Sigma Tau Delta English honor society and served as the organization's president for the 2006-2007 term. She was also selected for membership in the Lambda Pi Eta Communications honor society.
Dutcher's feature and creative articles have been published in a variety of regional publications and in Open Minds Quarterly, a Canadian literary arts journal that focuses on psychological issues.
Her current passions are empowering women through Sashay Magazine and hopefully publishing her book, The Necklace, a fictional account of one girl's attempt to remove her figurative mask while helping a psychiatric patient remove her physical mask. When she's not writing, she's at spinning class, the tennis courts or playing and Scrabble with her mom.
