Eco-friendly Interior Designer

Samantha Cobos is an interior designer motivated with a passion for green design. Like a true Sashay woman, Samantha values the importance of being eco-friendly. Here at Sashay we had the pleasure of interviewing Samantha to gain a better understanding of this eco-friendly interior designer and her work.

We asked Samantha what inspired her to create her own line.

“I was frustrated by the lack of eco-friendly furnishing available in the styles and colors that I was looking for.  I was always wasting time looking for things that didn’t exist, then I would have to compromise on color, style, scale…  I started dreaming about what I wanted and then came up with the idea of creating my own line.  It took a lot of time and research, but I’m finally there and I love it!”

In January 2010 she launched her eco-friendly home furnishing line, PURE Inspire Design. Here she was able to create what she felt was missing everywhere else. PURE Inspire Design offers creative and custom locally constructed upholstery, organic cotton pattern fabrics and 100 percent sustainable wool rugs.

“You cannot push creativity; it just comes – there are days when I work on a new pattern and at the end of the day I hate it, so I start over.  I love everything I offer, I do not compromise or settle when it comes to design – I have to be proud of it.”

Like many of us her road was not set in black and white. She didn’t always know she would become an interior designer. After eight years working in computer programming and her creative passion never deserting her, she went back to school for interior design.

So, what sets this interior designer apart from others? Well for one, when she told us she made custom designs she meant it. She can relate to the frustration felt when the right piece cannot be found. When necessary, Samantha works with her clients to create custom colors, patterns, upholstery and even custom sized pieces.

The work of being a business owner without a staff creating all these customized pieces, one would think she would struggle or fall into a rut while creating unique styles, but Samantha loves her job.

With a love for what she does and inspiration all around her we are bound to see more work from this designer in the future.
